Benjamin Sesko's Potential Impact: Man Utd's Dream Formation Revealed

After enduring a difficult 2024–25 season, Manchester United are now restructuring their roster ahead of the new campaign.
The Red Devils have chosen to invest heavily in their attacking options due to their offensive struggles last term, with Marcus Rashford's exit and the sidelining of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho compelling them to make significant purchases.
While the defensive line and midfield remain mostly unchanged—except for the signing of 18-year-old fullback Diego León—Ruben Amorim's offensive unit has been strengthened through the acquisitions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško expected to join them at Old Trafford shortly.
The 22-year-old striker is being brought in to address Man Utd's scoring difficulties, and a substantial fee is being paid for the Slovenian international, who will face considerable pressure once he signs his deal at Old Trafford.
But where will Šeško slot in at Man Utd? Here's how the Red Devils might arrange their team with the forward next season.
Man Utd Predicted Lineup With Benjamin Šeško

Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee should be concerned, as Šeško has arrived to challenge for their position. The 6'5 striker is a traditional No. 9 and will be immediately inserted into the central forward role in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system, having consistently played this position throughout his career.
Šeško will take up the role primarily occupied by Højlund during the previous season and will be tasked with performing similar duties as the Danish striker—though he must deliver at a higher level than his new teammate. Amorim will expect him to retain possession effectively and create space for the two attacking midfielders, while also utilizing his pace to run in behind the opposition's backline.
Šeško will require better service from Man Utd's dual No. 10s than Højlund received last season, but the additions of Cunha and Mbeumo should help reduce the creative responsibility that fell almost entirely on club captain Bruno Fernandes. These new signings will position themselves behind Šeško, supplying him in threatening areas and moving wide to open up space for the imposing forward.
Fernandes will naturally retreat deeper and feature in Amorim's two-man midfield partnership, granting him more control over the game but leaving the Red Devils more vulnerable defensively in central areas. Casemiro, who has shown improved form recently, will probably begin the new season as his midfield companion, though Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo will vie for a starting spot.
Man Utd's defensive trio, wing-backs and keeper will remain consistent from last season, at least initially. They could benefit from defensive reinforcements but have restricted resources after prioritizing their forward line this summer.
Diogo Dalot's cautious style on the right wing could balance Patrick Dorgu's attacking instincts, while Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are expected to form the three-man defense. Currently, André Onana is Amorim's first-choice keeper, though he may be unavailable for the Premier League opener due to injury.
