Real Madrid have announced the acquisition of midfielder Bernardo Silva on a free transfer.
The ex-Manchester City stalwart departed the Etihad after his contract ran out and had been widely tipped to join Barcelona, but a personal call from new Madrid boss José Mourinho convinced Silva to cross the Clásico divide and join the Spanish capital club instead.
The 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, tying himself to Los Blancos through the summer of 2028.
He becomes the second confirmed addition of the Mourinho era, following left back Marc Cucurella through the door. Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries are both anticipated to complete their moves in the near future.
