Borussia Dortmund Takes Extreme Measures to Shield Players from Scorching Heat

The Club World Cup is currently in full swing, featuring matches throughout America where top soccer clubs from around the world compete in this distinctive tournament.

For certain teams, their opponents on the pitch aren't their sole challenge. In Cincinnati, Borussia Dortmund finds themselves also contending with sweltering temperatures.

With temperatures climbing close to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, Dortmund employed an unconventional approach when handling their substitute players during Saturday's group stage encounter with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Instead of positioning them on the sidelines during the opening half, the team chose to keep their substitutes in the changing room, thereby shielding them from the extreme heat.

This is definitely not a common sight in soccer, but considering the conditions, it represents a logical decision.

Since the likelihood of requiring a first-half substitution is quite minimal, the squad determined that the most effective method to guarantee that any replacement players entering in the second half would be truly refreshed was to protect them from the sun for the maximum duration possible.

Any advantage helps in competition.
