Bournemouth Takes On Man City: Key Predictions, Tactical Insights, and Expected Lineups Revealed

Manchester City's Premier League title aspirations could take a serious hit if they fail to overcome a red-hot Bournemouth side on Tuesday evening, just days after lifting the FA Cup over the weekend.

Antoine Semenyo's brilliant flick knocked out a determined Chelsea at Wembley, as City added another piece of silverware to their Carabao Cup triumph back in March.

Pep Guardiola, however, won't be content with just a domestic cup double. His squad remains in contention for the Premier League crown, though they'll need some unlikely help from other results to reclaim top spot.

City's 3–3 stalemate with Everton leaves Arsenal firmly in the driving seat, yet a commanding 3–0 win over Palace last week means the gap stands at just two points. Goal difference may yet come into play, with City currently holding the edge over Mikel Arteta's side in that department.

However, this midweek fixture will be far from straightforward. Bournemouth have remarkably gone unbeaten in the top flight since selling Semenyo in January. A 16-match unbeaten streak has propelled them to sixth place following a tough spell in late 2025, with the Cherries, after Sunday's results, virtually guaranteed European football next season.

They're also daring to dream of a Champions League spot, with a sixth-place finish potentially proving sufficient.

City were never going to bank on Burnley doing them a favor in north London, but Oliver Glasner's recent remarks about potentially limiting squad rotation ahead of the Conference League final should offer them some encouragement.

A trip to Selhurst Park on the final day, particularly with a first league title in 22 years at stake, will be no easy task for Arsenal. City, meanwhile, stand to benefit from facing an Aston Villa side that may be celebrating Europa League success.

First, though, they must handle their business at Bournemouth's tight and atmospheric ground. This is Andoni Iraola's last home match at the Vitality Stadium, and the Cherries still have plenty to play for.

A win for the away side would pile enormous pressure on Arsenal heading into the weekend.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2–2 Man City

Bournemouth Predicted Lineup vs. Man City

Bournemouth lineup

The home side have enjoyed an extended rest since their last Premier League outing (a 1–0 victory at Fulham), but Iraola will be forced to make at least one change on Tuesday.

Ryan Christie is unavailable after receiving a red card at Craven Cottage, and he's expected to be replaced by USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams, who has had a relatively quiet campaign ahead of the World Cup. Alex Scott has been their standout performer in central midfield this season.

Julio Soler and Lewis Cook are also expected to be sidelined with muscular problems, while Álex Jiménez has been suspended by the club.

Iraola is likely to keep the same attacking quartet against City, with Rayan and Eli Junior Kroupi ranking among the league's most thrilling teenage talents.

Bournemouth Predicted Lineup vs. Man City (4-2-3-1): Petrović; Smith, Hill, Senesi, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Rayan, Kroupi, Tavernier; Evanilson.

Man City Predicted Lineup vs. Bournemouth

Manchester City lineup

Manchester City are expected to have a fully fit squad available for the first time in 2026 on Tuesday night.

Rodri recovered from a groin problem in time to feature in Saturday's FA Cup final, while Joško Gvardiol made an unexpected return to the starting eleven against Palace last week.

Gvardiol's return does present Guardiola with a significant decision at the back, though he'll likely maintain the effective pairing of Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guéhi.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to take over from James Trafford between the posts, while Rayan Cherki is also expected to reclaim his place in the side. Antoine Semenyo has netted in consecutive matches ahead of his return to his former club.

Man City Predicted Lineup vs. Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Nunes, Khusanov, Guéhi, Aït-Nouri; Silva, O'Reilly; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland.
