Brentford Raises Bryan Mbeumo Price Tag Following Manchester United's Latest Bid

Manchester United must increase their offer for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, as the London club is reportedly demanding a fee comparable to what the Red Devils paid for Matheus Cunha during the summer transfer window.
The Old Trafford side saw their initial proposal of £55 million ($74.4 million) turned down and have since submitted an enhanced bid believed to be around £60 million ($81.1 million).
Sources indicate that Brentford has consistently referenced United's acquisition of Cunha, who moved for £62.5 million ($85.1 million) earlier in the window, as their valuation standard. The Standard first reported that the Bees are now seeking precisely that amount for their star player.
United activated Cunha's buyout clause following his impressive campaign where the 26-year-old scored 15 goals and provided six assists across 33 matches for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Brentford considers Mbeumo, who is three months younger than Cunha, to be worth an equivalent transfer fee.
During the previous season, Mbeumo delivered outstanding numbers with 20 Premier League goals and eight assists in 38 appearances, after coming close to double digits in both statistics over the preceding two campaigns.

Reports suggest that United's most recent offer hasn't been formally declined, but Brentford intends to push for additional funds before approving Mbeumo's transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur, currently managed by ex-Brentford boss Thomas Frank, are also reportedly interested in securing Mbeumo's services, though the Cameroon forward is understood to prefer joining Manchester United, having expressed this desire earlier this month.
Mbeumo is also said to have discussed the potential move with fellow Cameroon international André Onana, who has reportedly endorsed the switch to United.
Although Brentford would ideally retain Mbeumo's services, the club acknowledges that he has merited the opportunity to make such a career-defining transfer, while maintaining throughout the summer that any sale must meet their financial expectations.
This could represent Brentford's last opportunity to maximize their return on Mbeumo. While his current deal expires next summer, a club option for an additional year effectively keeps him under contract until 2027.
