Bundesliga Sensation Desperately Eyes Chelsea Move as Summer Transfer Window Heats Up

Chelsea's interest in Xavi Simons remains strong, as the RB Leipzig offensive midfielder is determined to complete his transfer to Stamford Bridge at the earliest opportunity.

Last week, Simons removed RB Leipzig from his social media biographies across all platforms, sending a clear signal of his intention to depart the German club. Following Chelsea's weekend announcement of Dutch teammate Jorrel Hato's signing, Simons posted a comment on the club's Instagram announcement.

Fabrizio Romano's recent update suggests that Simons is pushing for a swift move to Chelsea, explaining his recent public gestures.

"Simons has reached a point where he's expressing, 'I've waited for weeks now, and I want this deal to materialize.' That's his current mindset - the player is determined to leave. He communicated this clearly to RB Leipzig again during the weekend," Romano explained.

Simons is tied to Leipzig for another two years under the contract he signed when making his permanent switch from PSG last winter. Nevertheless, Romano reports that from the moment he signed that agreement, he expressed his clear intention to depart the club this summer.

Chelsea has prioritized selling peripheral squad members to raise the necessary funds for making an official offer for Simons. Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall appear to be the next departures following the completed exits of João Félix and Armando Broja from the Blues.

With approximately one month remaining until the transfer window shuts, Chelsea still has sufficient time to secure Simons. Nevertheless, Enzo Maresca's squad has already returned to training at Cobham with fewer than two weeks before the Club World Cup winners begin their 2025–26 Premier League campaign.
