Can Liverpool Count on Salah's Return After Devastating Injury Setback?

Egypt's national team director Ibrahim Hassan has stated that Mohamed Salah has already made his last appearance for Liverpool, as a hamstring injury will rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

Salah is set to depart Anfield this summer and appeared visibly emotional as he hobbled off the pitch during Liverpool's recent 3–1 win over Crystal Palace, clutching his hamstring.

A minimum four-week layoff would keep Salah out past Liverpool's season finale against Brentford on May 24, and Hassan has now confirmed he anticipates that outcome.

"He has sustained a hamstring tear and will need four weeks of treatment," Hassan told Reuters.

With the World Cup on the horizon and Salah facing what is likely his last opportunity to represent Egypt on the world stage, the 33-year-old is expected to prioritize his rehabilitation before the tournament kicks off on June 11.

Salah's Glittering Liverpool Career Comes to Understated End

When Brentford make the trip to Anfield on May 24, Liverpool supporters will know the match itself may well take a back seat to the occasion.

Left back Andy Robertson has joined Salah in announcing that fixture as the conclusion of their respective Liverpool careers, drawing the curtain on the chapters of two of Anfield's most beloved figures in recent times.

While Robertson will hope to sign off with a memorable farewell on the field, it appears Salah has been denied that chance, with the lasting image of the Egyptian's time at the club being him limping along the touchline.

Liverpool will undoubtedly honor a casually dressed Salah on the final day of the season, with the forward expected to be brought out onto the pitch after the final whistle for what promises to be an emotional goodbye to the fans.

Salah will no doubt feel the frustration of being unable to contribute on the pitch, especially with Champions League qualification still not secured. Liverpool supporters will be hoping a top-five finish is already confirmed by the time Brentford arrive.

If there is any silver lining to the situation, it is that Salah has not been denied the chance to climb higher in several all-time record lists for Liverpool and the Premier League.

Salah's tally of 193 Premier League goals places him fourth on the all-time list, though he was never realistically going to close the 15-goal gap to Wayne Rooney above him. Likewise, he would have needed 28 more goals to match Roger Hunt as Liverpool's second-highest scorer of all time.

The prolific forward also sits 14 appearances short of Ron Yeats on Liverpool's all-time appearance list, placing him 23rd overall.

Salah was tantalizingly close to moving into fourth place for Liverpool appearances in the Premier League era. He trails Sami Hyypiä by just five games with 313 to his name, and even full fitness for Liverpool's four remaining matches would have only brought him to within one appearance of that mark.
