Carragher Reveals Liverpool's 10 All-Time Legends—And Salah Doesn't Even Crack the Top Five!

Jamie Carragher has revealed his list of the 10 greatest Liverpool players in history, with Mohamed Salah placed sixth in the rankings by the former Reds defender and television pundit.

Salah recently confirmed he will be leaving Anfield at the end of this season, drawing his remarkable nine-year association with the Merseyside club to a close. The Egyptian has cemented his legendary status at the club after shattering record upon record.

The iconic No.11 is Liverpool's third-highest scorer in club history, while also topping the charts for the Reds in both the Premier League and Champions League. Despite these extraordinary accomplishments, Salah falls just outside Carragher's top five—though he ranks higher than any teammate who has joined the club alongside him.

"The Egyptian King, Mo Salah. He's always going to be in the top 10, anyone's top 10, it's just where he comes on that list," said Carragher. "And for me, the thing I love about Mo Salah is the consistency, the longevity as well as the goals and the ability."

He continued: "What I also admire about Salah is that I don't think he's ever truly had a poor season. Even some elite players go through dips at times, only to bounce back the following year. Mo Salah delivers 30 goals every season for Liverpool. He's never on the injury list. I really appreciate that quality in players—those who are on the team sheet week in, week out, and that's precisely what Mo Salah represents.

"His record in the biggest matches, particularly against Manchester United, features some truly iconic moments. For me, he is one of the greatest players and most prolific goalscorers we have ever witnessed at Liverpool Football Club."

Steven Gerrard Tops Liverpool Greats

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard

It came as no surprise to see Steven Gerrard chosen by Carragher as the greatest Liverpool player of all time. A view widely shared among the club's fanbase, Carragher lined up alongside Gerrard on 572 occasions during their shared time at Anfield, the two Scousers forming an incredibly close bond as a result.

The prevailing view among Liverpool supporters is that the title of the club's greatest ever player is a debate between Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish, with the latter placed second in Carragher's list. The 1983 Ballon d'Or runner-up is one of the most influential figures in Liverpool's history and a true icon on Merseyside.

Graeme Souness, Carragher's former Sky Sports co-pundit, comes in third, followed by John Barnes and then Liverpool's all-time leading scorer Ian Rush. Salah does edge out teammate Virgil van Dijk, whom Carragher places eighth, just behind fellow defender Alan Hansen.

Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Kevin Keegan and Liverpool's all-time appearance record holder Ian Callaghan round out the top 10.
