Casemiro Set to Seal Manchester United Departure as Exit Talks Heat Up

Casemiro may potentially be concluding his tenure at Manchester United when his contract reaches its end in June 2026.

The Brazilian central midfielder's high-profile transfer from the Santiago Bernabéu to Old Trafford failed to meet expectations. Casemiro's performances declined substantially after an impressive initial period in the Premier League, and he gradually lost his place in the Red Devils' hierarchy as his stint in Manchester continued.

The five-time Champions League champion eventually regained his spot in United's starting lineup last season during the club's historically poor Premier League performance. The Brazilian featured in 42 matches across all tournaments and showed particular excellence in the Europa League, which attracted attention from Saudi Pro League clubs during the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old chose instead to stay with Ruben Amorim's squad for the 2025–26 campaign. However, with his deal scheduled to conclude in June 2026, Casemiro might depart Manchester next summer.

Based on reports from Fabrizio Romano, there exists a "concrete chance" that Casemiro will exit the club in 2026. The former Real Madrid midfielder could be experiencing his final season at a "European high level" before he "maybe tries something different" next summer.

"This is not something decided. This is not something guaranteed," Romano emphasized. The analysis highlights Casemiro's substantial wages and the economic advantages United would gain by removing that expense.

Casemiro reportedly receives an enormous £350,000 ($473,000) weekly salary at Manchester United. Eliminating this massive financial obligation would certainly assist the Red Devils in their ongoing mission to rebuild their roster.

United brought six new players to Old Trafford this summer, including Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Nevertheless, they failed to secure a prominent central midfielder, leaving Amorim with limited options other than fielding Casemiro.

If Casemiro does decide to depart Manchester United next summer, it might compel the club to finally strengthen the position as Manuel Ugarte continues to fail to meet performance standards.
