Chelsea Defender Seals Permanent La Liga Move as Two More Players Eye Loan Departures

Renato Veiga has finalized a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Villarreal, as the London club looks to arrange loan departures for several other defensive players in the upcoming days.
Chelsea acquired Veiga from Basel during the previous summer transfer window for approximately £12 million ($16.1 million), and supporters were immediately struck by his displays as a backup left-back, with the young player's performances quickly earning him recognition in Portugal's national squad.
However, his connection with the Blues deteriorated rapidly. Media reports suggested Veiga desired additional playing time at center-back, while consistent match appearances to enhance his position within Portugal's setup also motivated his wish to depart merely six months after arriving. Veiga ultimately moved to Juventus and completed the latter portion of the season featuring in central defensive roles.
Available for a permanent transfer this summer, Veiga has signed an agreement with Villarreal, who have committed to paying approximately £25 million while also providing Chelsea with what has been characterized as a "substantial" future sale percentage.
The Blues aim to reduce defensive squad numbers despite Levi Colwill's severe injury setback, and are presently arranging loan departures for both Aarón Anselmino and Axel Disasi.

Regarding Anselmino, the young Argentine is discussing a potential loan switch to Borussia Dortmund which is anticipated to be connected to a permanent departure for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka. Blues manager Enzo Maresca recently acknowledged that Anselmino would probably need to secure alternative accommodation this season, though Chelsea are not considering a permanent sale of the 20-year-old.
Disasi, on the other hand, has attracted interest from Bournemouth. As initially reported by Sacha Tavolieri, the Cherries are in discussions regarding a deal that could see the French center-back arrive on loan with a purchase option for the following summer.
Bournemouth have shown interest in another Blues prospect, Josh Acheampong, but Chelsea are understood to prefer retaining the academy product.
Wesley Fofana has been connected with a potential Chelsea departure following social media controversy triggered by his decision to remove Blues-related content from his Instagram account, but Maresca maintained that Fofana remains "content" at Stamford Bridge.
