Chelsea Eyeing Surprise Striker Move as Nicolas Jackson Future Takes Dramatic Turn

Chelsea are said to be considering a last-minute approach for a new forward as the possibility of Nicolas Jackson departing this summer continues to loom.

The Senegalese striker had virtually finalized a "record-breaking" temporary transfer to Bayern Munich on Saturday morning. However, while Jackson was familiarizing himself with his potential new German surroundings, Liam Delap suffered a hamstring problem during the match against Fulham 700 miles away. When it became clear that the English attacker would be sidelined for six to eight weeks, Chelsea withdrew Jackson's transfer to Bayern.

Stories soon surfaced suggesting that Jackson was "incensed" and the player's vocal representative Diomansy Kamara expressed his frustration on Instagram, stating: "We're not returning... The aircraft isn't heading back. Munich."

Chelsea maintain their position that Jackson will not be permitted to finalize his temporary switch to Bayern, but should he manage to secure a permanent departure, the Blues are "examining backup options," according to The Athletic. Sporting CP's Conrad Harder, who took over Viktor Gyökeres's No. 9 jersey in Lisbon, is said to be among the various prospects Chelsea have contacted during these chaotic recent hours.

After Christopher Nkunku's permanent transfer to AC Milan and Delap's injury setback, João Pedro would remain the sole senior forward at Enzo Maresca's disposal if Jackson were to depart.

Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl provided little encouragement regarding a permanent acquisition of Jackson. "We'll inform the player and his representative that they must return because Chelsea... We simply lack a finalized agreement," he expressed on Saturday evening.

"We have 48 hours remaining. This situation couldn't have been anticipated, but we'll attempt to find a resolution," the increasingly frustrated official stated.

"Initially, we're still evaluating it, and as long as we can take action, we'll assess whether to proceed and how to proceed. If we then choose one path, that we won't pursue anything, then that's our decision, but first we still have the chance to decide, and we'll strive to do so to the best of our capabilities."
