Chelsea Face Massive London Derby Showdown in Carabao Cup Semifinal Draw

Chelsea are set to face either Arsenal or Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup semifinals during early 2026, while Manchester City will stand in the way of defending champions Newcastle United and their quest to return to Wembley Stadium.

The semifinal draw occurred following Newcastle's dramatic last-minute quarterfinal victory against Fulham at St James's Park—the title holders secured their advancement thanks to a late winner in added time from academy graduate Lewis Miley.

Chelsea became the first side to secure a semifinal berth after Tuesday's 3–1 victory over Cardiff City, needing a late surge to overcome the League One outfit in south Wales.

Manchester City joined them on Wednesday, launching their path to a 2–0 triumph against Brentford with a spectacular strike from Rayan Cherki. Pep Guardiola's squad claimed the Carabao Cup for four consecutive seasons from 2017–18 through 2020–21 but haven't captured the trophy since then.

Arsenal and Crystal Palace both feature in the semifinal draw as their quarterfinal clash remains unplayed. The fixture at the Emirates Stadium has been postponed until the following week due to scheduling conflicts.

Following longstanding tournament tradition, the semifinals will be contested across two legs. The opening matches are planned for January, with the second legs arranged for February.
