Chelsea Fires Back at Rivals with Cheeky Social Media Dig Over Club World Cup

Chelsea continues to maintain their social media rivalry with Flamengo, intensifying the ongoing tension with a pinned X post on their official club account.
"London Blue's quarterfinal tie," states the brief message in anticipation of their upcoming Club World Cup match against Palmeiras.
The reference to 'London Blue' isn't a nod to Pro Evolution Soccer, but rather a deliberate dig at Flamengo, who employed this exact phrase when celebrating their 3–1 group stage triumph over the Premier League side.
"Easy win against London Blue," posted Flamengo's official English-language account.
Flamengo capitalized on Nicolas Jackson's impulsive red card dismissal, securing a dominant victory that provided their social media administrator with plenty of ammunition to provoke Chelsea supporters.
Accompanying an image of Danilo celebrating Flamengo's second goal within three minutes, the club's X account posted: "Where did the Chelsea fans go?"
However, the provocative behavior had started before kickoff. One video featured Flamengo supporters assembling outside Lincoln Financial Field with the caption: "Chelsea fans in SHOCK as they find out what real fans look like."
While some fans worried this might be the actions of an unauthorized staff member, the account reinforced their stance: "Can confirm that admin did no get fired."
The Brazilian club from Rio de Janeiro topped Chelsea in Group D, though this achievement only secured them a Round of 16 encounter with Bayern Munich. In a gesture of respect that Chelsea didn't receive, Flamengo gifted their German opponents a commemorative plate acknowledging "its recognition for your participation in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025".
"It is an honor to share this global stage with your institution, in celebration of the values of sport, excellence and fair play."
Flamengo suffered a decisive 4–2 defeat, whereas Chelsea progressed to the quarterfinals—bringing considerable satisfaction to the club's social media department.
