Chelsea have claimed just one victory in their last six Premier League outings, a troubling statistic heading into Sunday's difficult home clash against Manchester City.
The Blues snapped their four-match losing run by hammering League One side Port Vale in last weekend's FA Cup quarterfinal, but that win has merely concealed the underlying issues that a red-hot City outfit will look to exploit this weekend.
Chelsea have been frustratingly inconsistent for large portions of the campaign and morale is unlikely to be particularly elevated at Stamford Bridge as the Blues look to strengthen their Champions League qualification push.
Defensive Injuries Persist for Blues

Chelsea have looked worryingly fragile defensively in recent weeks and their backline remains depleted ahead of City's arrival. Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill—three automatic starters when fit—are all sidelined with injuries.
Further up the pitch, Chelsea must also manage without Enzo Fernández following a suspension handed down by the club over remarks concerning reported links to Real Madrid. Having already sat out last weekend's FA Cup victory, the Argentine midfielder will again be unavailable on Sunday.
Mykhailo Mudryk is also serving a ban after testing positive for a banned substance, while Jamie Gittens and Filip Jörgensen are both set to miss out due to injury.
Minimal changes are anticipated from the strong starting eleven fielded against Port Vale, with Marc Cucurella and Moisés Caicedo the only expected alterations. Following an impressive showing last time out, Estêvão has earned himself another place in the starting lineup.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs. Man City (4-2-3-1)

GK: Robert Sánchez—Jörgensen's injury has temporarily settled the ongoing debate over Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper, with Sánchez the only viable option for Rosenior when facing a star-studded City attack.
RB: Malo Gusto—James's absence will be keenly felt, with Gusto bracing himself for a demanding duel against Jérémy Doku. City's electric winger has the potential to wreak havoc down Chelsea's right flank.
CB: Wesley Fofana—Errors have been a recurring theme in Fofana's performances this season and must be eliminated when facing Erling Haaland and company. Any loss of focus will be ruthlessly punished.
CB: Tosin Adarabioyo—The injuries to Chalobah and Colwill set up a potential reunion with his former club for Tosin. The centre-back's lack of pace could be exploited by Haaland and Guardiola's other energetic forwards.
LB: Marc Cucurella—Much like fellow full-back Gusto, the Spanish defender faces a stern examination when tasked with containing Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian contributed both a goal and an assist at Stamford Bridge last season.
DM: Moisés Caicedo—Caicedo was given a timely breather against Port Vale and should be refreshed ahead of his midfield battle with Rayan Cherki—the Frenchman currently in outstanding form following eye-catching performances against Arsenal and Liverpool.
DM: Andrey Santos—Roméo Lavia may well get minutes against his former club, but the Belgian's playing time continues to be carefully monitored given his injury history. Santos represents the more reliable choice against City.
RW: Estêvão—The Brazilian was virtually unplayable after switching to the right wing at the interval last weekend, his combination of pace, courage and technical ability sure to pose problems for Nico O'Reilly.
AM: Cole Palmer—Palmer has netted just 10 goals since the Club World Cup, with half of those coming from the penalty spot. The former City academy product is not currently operating at his best.
LW: Pedro Neto—The Portuguese winger has failed to score in nine previous meetings with City, and given he hasn't found the net in the Premier League since early December, that barren run looks set to continue.
ST: João Pedro—Pedro cannot be held responsible for Chelsea's recent poor results. The Brazilian's strike against Port Vale was his 12th goal since Rosenior assumed managerial duties.
