Chelsea Land New Centre-Back Following Liam Rosenior's Personal Appeal
Chelsea have announced the completion of centre-back Mamadou Sarr's return from his loan spell at Strasbourg.
The Blues acquired Sarr from their affiliated club during the summer transfer window and, following a period away at the Club World Cup, loaned him back to Strasbourg for the 2025–26 campaign to further his development under manager Liam Rosenior, who has subsequently assumed control at Stamford Bridge.
When Rosenior arrived at Chelsea, he indicated his desire for additional defensive reinforcement and, with Rennes defender Jérémy Jacquet unavailable before ultimately choosing Liverpool, the Blues turned their attention internally. Aarón Anselmino was controversially brought back from his loan at Borussia Dortmund but, instead of staying with Chelsea, the Argentine was dispatched to Strasbourg as Sarr's replacement.
Sarr, aged 20, has now finalized his return to Chelsea, where he is anticipated to play an important part under Rosenior's guidance.
