Chelsea Launch Bid for Barcelona's Rising Star Despite €100 Million Price Tag

Speculation linking Chelsea with Barcelona's midfield talent Marc Casadó has intensified following reports from Spain suggesting the London club has submitted a bid for the 21-year-old player.

Despite limited opportunities under previous coach Xavi, where he featured in just four matches totaling 35 minutes, Casadó rapidly became an integral part of Hansi Flick's squad. The young midfielder accumulated 36 appearances in all tournaments, with 29 as a starter, and would have likely featured more frequently if not for a March injury that allowed Frenkie de Jong to regain his starting position.

The midfielder's impressive performances have generated Chelsea interest throughout the campaign, but SPORT now suggests more concrete developments, reporting that the promising player has received "substantial offers" to depart Barcelona during the upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea emerge as leading contenders from English football, while Atlético Madrid have also expressed interest in Casadó as they monitor Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso's situation.

Barcelona's preference remains retaining Casadó, who enjoys strong backing from Flick, however financial pressures this summer might force them to consider substantial bids for a player who remains committed to competing for his position in Catalonia.

Currently, Chelsea's proposed valuation falls short of Barcelona's expectations. The Premier League side reportedly values Casadó at €30 million (£25.9 million, $35.4 million) and would need to significantly increase their offer to initiate serious negotiations.

The midfielder's deal, extending through summer 2028, includes a €100 million (£86.4 million, $117.9 million) buyout clause.

Reports indicate Chelsea have also pursued another Barcelona midfielder, Fermín López, but have reportedly acknowledged their inability to secure the 22-year-old's services this summer.
