Chelsea Legend Delivers Brutal Reality Check on Club's Premier League Title Dreams

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has expressed his backing for the Blues' youth-focused approach, though he remains skeptical about Enzo Maresca's team's ability to claim the Premier League title in the upcoming campaign.
Despite fielding an exceptionally youthful roster, Chelsea secured fourth position under Maresca's inaugural season, and following a strong showing in the Club World Cup this summer, there's optimism that the West London club can mount a stronger challenge for higher league positions this term.
Although Terry emphasized his belief that the club is progressing positively, he advised supporters to temper their expectations regarding Premier League championship ambitions.
"We possess a truly talented young group," he shared with talkSPORT.
"There's that well-known phrase about not being able to achieve success with inexperienced players; you require some seasoned presence. I believe we simply need some veteran influence, perhaps between the posts or an experienced central defender to provide guidance to the team on the field.
"Regarding the skill level and the ownership's vision, I'm enthusiastic about the concept. However, I'm uncertain whether it translates to Premier League victory.

"My personal view is that Manchester City and Liverpool are likely too formidable currently, though we might capitalize on [the Club World Cup] momentum and begin the season strongly."
Previously this year, Terry suggested Chelsea were still "several years" from becoming serious title challengers.
"I believe we're several years away, honestly," he stated in May. "I don't intend for this to become sensational news, but when I observe Man City and Liverpool—they're superior. Arsenal has shown consistency.
"Currently we allow pressure too frequently, as do other clubs. Man City excel at handling it, but when other teams attempt the same approach, they struggle. Supporters grow impatient with this pattern over time.
"We've succeeded in obtaining fourth place, valuable experience for the lads. Making acquisitions and drawing quality players will be crucial next season."
