Chelsea have locked down striker João Pedro's future, handing the Brazilian a lucrative new long-term deal.
Pedro far surpassed all expectations in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, contributing 23 goals and nine assists across all competitions and cementing himself as the Blues' undisputed first-choice striker.
Barcelona had been widely reported to be monitoring Pedro and were considered likely to launch a bid should Atlético Madrid prove unwilling to sell Julián Alvarez, but Chelsea have put those rumors to rest by extending Pedro's contract through to 2034.
"I am absolutely delighted to sign a new contract with Chelsea," Pedro said. "Playing for a top club has always been a dream of mine, and committing my long-term future to this club means everything to me. Chelsea has a proud history of success and enormous ambitions going forward.
"I have built a wonderful relationship with everyone at the club and have felt completely at home here in London since the day I arrived.
"There is a real buzz around the squad ahead of this season. We believe we can accomplish great things — we have a fantastic team, a manager who is driven to win and has already done so. I am fully focused, the whole squad is ready, and hopefully we can deliver on our ambitions."
Pedro Primed to Reach Next Level Under Xabi Alonso
The 2025–26 season was the campaign in which Pedro truly announced himself among the Premier League's elite strikers. He had shown plenty of promise during two seasons with Brighton & Hove Albion, but his first year at Chelsea marked the first time he surpassed 10 Premier League goals in a single season.
That outstanding form allowed Pedro to edge out competition from Liam Delap and claim Chelsea's starting berth, with his dominance in that battle so convincing that he has since been handed Delap's No. 9 shirt.
Still only 24, Pedro is just entering the peak years of his career and expectations have never been higher, especially following a dazzling preseason in which he netted seven goals across just five outings.

Sustaining that kind of output in the Premier League will be an enormous challenge, but Chelsea supporters are hopeful that Pedro can take yet another step forward and mount a genuine challenge in the Golden Boot race — even with Erling Haaland remaining the overwhelming favorite.
"We speak with João a great deal because he is not simply a talented footballer," manager Xabi Alonso said of the striker. "He has a tremendous character, and his growth both as a top player and as a leader is clearly visible every single day and in every match.
"He carries that focus and that hunger to have a brilliant season — scoring goals while contributing to the team. I am very pleased and genuinely impressed by his mentality, and now our job is to help him achieve everything he is capable of."
