Chelsea Star Enzo Fernandez Makes History with Stunning International Finals Streak

Enzo Fernández served as a crucial element in Chelsea's historic achievement of becoming the inaugural winners of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup.
With Chelsea's Club World Cup triumph, Fernández achieved the unique distinction of being the sole active footballer to hold World Championship titles at both club and international levels simultaneously.
In 2022, Fernández was instrumental in Argentina's World Cup victory in Qatar. The 21-year-old midfielder became indispensable in Lionel Scaloni's setup and concluded the tournament by claiming the Young Player of the Tournament accolade.
Throughout this summer's Club World Cup campaign, Fernández contributed one goal and provided three assists during Chelsea's championship journey, featuring in the starting lineup for every match except the tournament opener.
Even more remarkable is Fernández's flawless record in international finals throughout his career. At just 24 years of age, the Argentine midfielder has emerged victorious in all six international finals he has participated in.

His trophy collection began with the 2020 Copa Conmebol Sudamericana—the South American counterpart to the Europa League—while on loan at Argentine club Defensa y Justicia, followed by the Recopa Sudamericana—South America's answer to the UEFA Super Cup—where they defeated Copa Libertadores holders Palmeiras.
Subsequently came international glory with Argentina. Following their 2022 World Cup success, Fernández and Argentina captured the 2024 Copa América title. La Albiceleste achieved consecutive continental championships, marking Fernández's first Copa América triumph.
During his initial eighteen months at Chelsea, Fernández experienced a trophy drought. Erratic displays and the pressure of his £106.8 million ($131 million at the time) transfer fee made him a frequent subject of harsh criticism.
However, the 2024–25 campaign saw Fernández deliver his finest performances in a Chelsea shirt, culminating in two additional international honors: the UEFA Conference League and the previously mentioned Club World Cup.
"I occasionally check social media regarding the finals," Fernández commented after the match, addressing his perfect record in international finals. "I remain thankful to my family, friends and loved ones who consistently support me through difficult periods. I'm also appreciative of my teammates who always provide encouragement. There's excellent chemistry within our squad. We're developing something truly special."
Chelsea and Fernández will begin the 2025–26 campaign with momentum and aim to compete for the club's first Premier League crown since 2016–17, while potentially pursuing another international final appearance upon their Champions League return.
