Chelsea Star Guro Reiten Makes Blockbuster Move to Gotham FC

Reports indicate to Sports Illustrated that Norwegian player Guro Reiten will transfer to National Women's Soccer League club NJ/NY Gotham FC via loan from Women's Super League team Chelsea. The left-sided attacking player will provide valuable reinforcement to Gotham's roster as they aim to retain their 2025 NWSL Championship crown.

The 31-year-old forward ranked as Chelsea's second-leading goalscorer with 12 strikes in all tournaments during the 2024–25 WSL campaign. She has maintained prolific form for the London club since her 2019 arrival, achieving the significant landmark of 50 career goals for the organization last season. Internationally, Reiten has netted 21 times in 108 matches for Norway since 2014.

Gotham FC concluded the 2025 NWSL regular season in eighth position with 35 goals scored, placing the New Jersey/New York franchise in the middle tier for offensive output. An impressive goal difference of plus-10 propelled them into the final postseason berth, eventually securing the club's second NWSL Championship trophy in a three-year span.

Following the exits of Ella Stevens via free agency to expansion franchise Boston Legacy and the transfer of Brazilian striker Gabi Portilho to San Diego Wave, Gotham has completed their roster with one of the globe's premier wide players.

Gotham will begin their 2026 NWSL season on the road against Boston on March 14, followed by their home debut the subsequent week on March 21.
