Chelsea Star Makes Stunning Return to Training Ahead of Club World Cup Final Showdown

Moisés Caicedo has returned to Chelsea's training sessions, apparently recovering from the ankle problem he picked up during the Club World Cup semi-final encounter.

The London club comfortably defeated Fluminense with a 2–0 scoreline, though the triumph was overshadowed by Caicedo's late injury when he seemed to roll his ankle on the playing surface. The Ecuadorian midfielder tried to continue playing but was eventually substituted as the match concluded.

Head coach Enzo Maresca revealed that Caicedo "experienced discomfort" and was subsequently taken for medical examinations, but it appears he has received positive news as the player has already rejoined Chelsea's training activities.

His availability for the upcoming clash against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain is yet to be determined, though his presence in training sessions will provide relief to Chelsea supporters, particularly given that his backup option, Dário Essugo, is currently sidelined with injury.

Caicedo's participation would represent a significant advantage for Chelsea as they gear up to face what could be considered the planet's most formidable midfield trio consisting of Vitinha, João Neves and Fabián Ruiz. The 23-year-old has built a standing as one of the globe's premier defensive midfielders—though he personally questions whether he merits such recognition.

"I don't believe that," he shared with reporters. "I am still developing in that area. My goal is to become one of the world's top midfielders, but I feel I have considerable ground to cover.

"I am putting in effort daily and aim to demonstrate it during matches."

Caicedo added: "I prefer to let my performance speak for itself, displaying quality football so others can form their opinions about me.

"People tend to discuss you when you're performing well. Even when criticism comes my way, it doesn't affect me because my sole focus is contributing to my team's success."
