Chelsea Strikes Again: Blues Close In on Third Player Sale to Sister Club Strasbourg This Summer

Chelsea may permit academy prospect Genesis Antwi to transfer to affiliated club RC Strasbourg ahead of the summer transfer window closure, according to emerging reports.

The Stockholm-native joined Chelsea's youth academy at age 11 following his family's relocation to England, and secured two senior team appearances during the previous campaign—both occurring in the UEFA Conference League.

Though the player celebrated his 18th birthday in May, his progression and route to professional football could benefit from exploring alternative options. Operating as a right-back, he faces competition from Reece James, Malo Gusto, and Josh Acheampong, though the latter demonstrated versatility by excelling at center-back during Chelsea's season-opening match.

Initially disclosed by The Chelsea Spot and subsequently confirmed by L'Équipe, Antwi visited Strasbourg's training facilities during the previous week. Discussions between Chelsea and the French top-flight club, both under BlueCo ownership, are expected to progress.

Player exchanges between Chelsea and Strasbourg have become commonplace during recent transfer periods.

Andrey Santos, Ângelo, Caleb Wiley and Diego Moreira have all been dispatched to the eastern French club via loan arrangements. Goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović similarly experienced time with Strasbourg, delivering strong performances last season and enabling Chelsea to secure substantial profit when the Serbian was transferred to Bournemouth.

Chelsea acquired teenage center-back Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg during June, subsequently loaning him back approximately two months afterward. Additionally, Mathis Amougou remained a Chelsea player for four months after his February acquisition from Saint-Étienne before permanently transferring to Strasbourg alongside academy defender Ishé Samuels-Smith, who departed for £6.5 million ($8.8 million).

Antwi, possessing Ghanaian ancestry and having represented England and Sweden at junior levels, may become another Chelsea academy graduate generating revenue for the club. Approximately £250 million ($336.8 million) has been accumulated through homegrown player sales over the past three years.
