Chelsea have revealed a striking new away kit for the 2026–27 campaign as they prepare to launch Xabi Alonso's era at the club—though once again the front of the shirt remains sponsor-free.
The Blues have returned to a black base for their second strip and, for the first time since 2021–22, have reintroduced gold accents to make a bold statement on the clean canvas. The Chelsea lion takes the place of the traditional club badge on the chest, accompanied by the Club World Cup winners' patch and the Nike Swoosh.
Gold detailing also features around the collar and sleeve cuffs, reviving the laurel wreath motif that can similarly be found on the home kit.
Supporters will see the shirt in competitive action during Alonso's team's preseason schedule, though the continued absence of a sponsor is expected to draw the most headlines.

The lion on our chest. Identity. A unity you can feel. A pride that refuses to stay quiet. That stands as one, wherever we go.

Chelsea have gone without a permanent shirt sponsor since the 2022–23 season. A partnership with telecoms giant Three was left to lapse 12 months after the BlueCo ownership group took over, as the new regime sought a sponsor willing to pay a considerably higher fee.
Temporary arrangements have since been struck with Infinite Athlete, Damac and, most recently, IFS, with the latter two serving as front-of-shirt sponsors for only a brief period each.
Reports from the early stages of the search indicated Chelsea were seeking as much as $80 million (£60 million) per season from a shirt partner. Manchester United are understood to receive a comparable figure from Snapdragon in what stands as the Premier League's largest sponsorship deal.
Chelsea's hierarchy defended their decision to hold off on a sponsorship agreement, arguing they could command a greater fee as a consistent presence in the Champions League. However, the 2026–27 season will see the club absent from European competition entirely following a disappointing conclusion to the previous campaign.
Reducing the Demands

Chelsea have since scaled back their asking price for a front-of-shirt sponsor to somewhere in the range of £45 million to £50 million, according to Sportico's Łukasz Bączek, and are currently targeting technology firms that could also provide broader support across the club's operations.

A potential deal with hydration brand Knox is reported to have fallen through, with the company subsequently agreeing to become the principal shirt sponsor of Newcastle United. However, the opening year of that three-season arrangement is believed to be worth considerably less to the Magpies, as their home kit had already gone on sale before the brand's logo could be incorporated onto the shirts.
Chelsea encountered a comparable situation previously, having released a portion of their 2023–24 kits before the Infinite Athlete branding was applied.
