Ex-Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is "awake and in good condition" following a collapse during Denmark's international friendly match against Ukraine.
Eriksen went down with just over 60 minutes played, prompting the game to be abandoned. The incident brought back distressing memories of a comparable event involving the same player at Euro 2020.
On that occasion, facing Finland, Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest and was saved by emergency medical intervention and the swift actions of teammate Simon Kjær. He was subsequently fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator and managed to resume his career, signing first with Brentford and later Manchester United. During the most recent season, the 34-year-old made 34 appearances for Wolfsburg.
Following the abandonment of the Denmark-Ukraine fixture on Sunday, the Danish football association (DBU) quickly eased concerns by announcing that Eriksen had regained consciousness.

Morten Boesen, the Danish team physician credited with saving Eriksen's life five years ago, confirmed the player had been able to walk off the pitch "on his own" and that the pacemaker "functioned as expected." This meant he was only "briefly unconscious."
Once again, the medical team's response from the Danish staff was swift.
Eriksen has been taken to hospital for further tests to determine the cause of his collapse.
