Christian Pulisic Sets Sights on Luka Modric's Legacy in Bold Career Declaration
Christian Pulisic has cited Real Madrid icon and current AC Milan colleague, Luka Modrić, as his role model when speaking about his aspirations for professional longevity.
The 27-year-old Pulisic has shared the pitch with some of Europe's finest talents throughout his career. The United States national team forward has collaborated with distinguished players including Marco Reus, Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante and Mats Hummels. His latest teammate, though, is making a significant impression on him.
Modrić arrived at Milan as a free agent this summer, linking up with Pulisic. The Ballon d'Or recipient, six-time Champions League champion and European icon is providing motivation regarding career durability.
"I'm considering like, a decade ahead, I want to maintain an extended career," Pulisic told Paramount+. "I want to continue as long [as possible]. I observe Luka in my changing room and this man's 40 and he's delivering 10 out of 10 displays. I'm just curious how he manages it. I hope I can maintain that level."
Pulisic Reflects on Current Performance, Future Plans

Pulisic was hesitant to describe his excellent form with the Rossoneri as reaching his peak years.
"I certainly [believe] I'm at an optimal age in my career. I feel at perhaps my physical peak ... I feel I've gained considerable experience and I'm in a really positive position. I always prefer to say 'I hope my prime is next year,' because that's consistently my objective," he continued. "But if this represents my prime, I want to savor it ... I certainly feel like I'm delivering some of my finest football right now."
The attacking midfielder has recorded six goals and two assists across nine matches in all tournaments thus far, though has been sidelined by a hamstring problem sustained while on USMNT duty in October. Pulisic was omitted from the November roster to ensure complete recovery.
Pulisic also addressed his post-career intentions given he's dedicated his entire professional journey to clubs in Germany, England and Italy.
"I've considered it," Pulisic acknowledged. "I certainly envision myself establishing life following my playing days in the U.S. ... Simply being home will be wonderful."
Pulisic and the USMNT will jointly host the 2026 FIFA World Cup this upcoming summer.
