Club Chief Reveals Luka Modric's Future Plans Amid Strong Interest from Multiple Parties

AC Milan's sporting director Igli Tare has officially announced that the club has reached an agreement to acquire experienced midfielder Luka Modrić following his departure from Real Madrid this summer.

Modrić signed a brief contract extension to remain with Madrid through the FIFA Club World Cup, after which he will leave for new opportunities for the first time in over a decade. Discussions with Milan took place prior to the tournament's start, but official confirmation will only be provided after Madrid concludes their campaign in the United States.

The signing of Modrić is merely awaiting formalization, and Tare has expressed his enthusiasm about what the 39-year-old veteran will contribute to the squad in the upcoming season.

"We evaluated this situation thoroughly, and one of our deficiencies last season was the absence of clear leadership within the squad," Tare stated during a press conference.

"While I may not be intimately familiar with all the internal dynamics, I believe acquiring Modrić addresses exactly this need: he represents a significant presence in global football.

"I had a personal conversation with him and observed that he remains highly motivated to compete at the highest level. His addition is crucial as a reference point for a team requiring players of his caliber.

"He won't be the only addition, as we plan one or two more signings of seasoned players who will serve as catalysts for our promising young talents."

When asked about his discussions with Modrić, Tare disclosed that the Croatian star is determined to expand his already impressive collection of trophies.

"His initial question to me was whether we were assembled as a championship-winning team, considering we're discussing a champion from Real Madrid who has claimed seven Champions League titles," Tare elaborated.

"I recognized his immediate desire to play a leading role, which will be essential for the mentality, personality, and leadership he'll instill in the team. It would also be remarkable for him to have a standout season, especially with the Club World Cup on the horizon."
