Club President Issues Salah a Final Warning as MLS Rival Launches Bold Takeover Bid

Beşiktaş chairman Serdal Adalı has confirmed that Mohamed Salah has been presented with the club's final offer and is anticipated to provide a prompt reply.

Salah has attracted interest from several clubs since mutually terminating his Liverpool contract earlier this season. Following Egypt's run to the World Cup quarterfinals, speculation about a Saudi Pro League switch gave way to reported interest from Turkish clubs.

Adalı took the unusual step of publicly disclosing the exact state of negotiations with Salah in an official statement released to Turkish outlet Orta Çizgi.

"As reported in the media, we have been in discussions with the player and his representatives for quite some time, covering every aspect of the potential transfer," Adalı was quoted as saying on Monday.

"Most recently, after carefully examining the proposal submitted to us from every perspective, we delivered our final official offer to the player's camp. We also made clear that we expect them to communicate their decision to us in the near future.

"While our transfer activity continues at full pace, this is where things currently stand with Salah. Since the opening talks, we have considered all requested increases and adjustments within the best interests of Beşiktaş and submitted our final offer. The ball is now in the player's court, and we have made it known that we anticipate a response soon."

Salah's 'Lucrative' MLS Offer

The primary obstacle in Beşiktaş' pursuit of Salah appears to be MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City. The ambitious American franchise has tabled a two-year deal for the 34-year-old winger, which has been described as "lucrative" by the Daily Mail.

Salah was among the highest-earning players in the Premier League after penning his substantial contract extension with Liverpool in 2024. Nevertheless, he chose to walk away from the final year of that deal in search of a fresh challenge that would guarantee him regular playing time. Reports suggest Salah has even reduced his wage demands during talks with Beşiktaş.

It has been a turbulent period for the Istanbul club. Adalı is the third permanent president in as many years, and the club has cycled through six different head coaches during that same stretch.

Highly regarded Italian tactician Vincenzo Italiano was brought in during June to bring some consistency to a side that finished fourth in the Turkish top flight last season. Beşiktaş still face several rounds of Europa League qualifying to secure continental football on the European side of the Bosphorus in the upcoming campaign.

Sporting KC cannot match the competitive level of a club potentially playing in UEFA competition, but MLS has established itself as a credible destination for a wave of veteran stars. Antoine Griezmann, Robert Lewandowski and Casemiro have all made the move to the United States this summer, following the influx of high-profile signings that Lionel Messi sparked back in 2023.
