Cody Gakpo Commits Future to Liverpool with New Deal: "This Club Is My Home"

Liverpool striker Cody Gakpo has secured his long-term future at the club by penning a fresh extended deal.
Gakpo's current deal—which was signed upon his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023—was not set to run out until 2028, indicating the Netherlands international could remain at Anfield for a minimum of four more years. The Premier League title holders have not revealed the exact duration of the new agreement.
So far, Gakpo has featured in 131 matches for Liverpool, finding the net on 42 occasions.
"It's incredible to renew my contract at this wonderful club. I'm extremely thankful and I hope I can deliver many more magical moments," he shared with LiverpoolFC.com.
"I feel settled here, my family feels settled and that's always a major factor in any decision. They're comfortable. I'm extremely content at the club, with a great group and excellent teammates, so life beyond football itself is fantastic and I cherish every second of it. I'm very thankful that I can extend my stay."
Gakpo stated that his objective is "clearly to capture more silverware," building on his current Premier League and Carabao Cup achievements.
"I believe we possess an excellent squad right now and we're working to create something extraordinary once more. Clearly last season we claimed the title, so we must protect it with everything we have. We also want to claim the Champions League and other trophies, so that's our target. On a personal level, I want to continue growing, so each season needs to surpass the previous one. That's our goal."
Gakpo's position at Liverpool was potentially uncertain during Jürgen Klopp's concluding campaign, coming off the bench in more Premier League matches than he started. Those starting opportunities grew under Arne Slot in 2024–25, securing a more consistent role on the left wing. The club's readiness to potentially sell Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich earlier this summer demonstrated additional confidence in Gakpo.
