Cole Palmer has expressed confidence in Chelsea's future prospects, revealing he extended his contract with the club to ensure he remains at the heart of that journey.
Despite already being contracted until 2033, Palmer has tacked on an additional 12 months, committing himself to Chelsea for the next eight years. He will be 32 years old when this latest deal comes to an end.
"Chelsea means a great deal to me and I believe the club is heading in the right direction, so I'm thrilled to sign and I'm clearly very pleased," Palmer told club media.
"After speaking with the owners, the sporting directors and of course the manager, they gave me a lot of belief, so it felt like the right decision to put pen to paper.
"Talking with the players too, everyone shares the same goals. I feel like we can win major trophies here on a consistent basis and I want to be part of that and contribute in a meaningful way."
Palmer's New Contract Proves Chelsea's Strategy Is Working

Much has been said about Chelsea's approach to player contracts. Notably lengthy deals often come with relatively modest wages, with the club fully aware that teams around the world will happily offer higher salaries.
Chelsea's philosophy has not been to prevent players from earning substantial wages, but rather to ensure that those who do command such figures have genuinely justified them.
Several factors shaped that strategy, including the deal handed to Raheem Sterling when he arrived at the club in the summer of 2022. As a high-profile signing, Sterling's contract came with hefty wages of £325,000 ($430,000) per week, placing him among the Premier League's top earners.
His first season at Stamford Bridge produced nine goals and four assists across all competitions—decent numbers, but far short of what was expected from a player brought in to elevate the team to another level.
With the shift away from signing experienced veterans came performance-based contracts. Players who join Chelsea typically agree to below-average base wages on deals that include bonuses tied to appearances, goals and various other benchmarks, with assurances from ownership that pay increases can be renegotiated regularly if a player's performances warrant it.
This marks the second contract extension Palmer has signed since arriving at Chelsea three years ago. Having swiftly demonstrated that he deserved to be seen as more than just a promising youngster, Palmer is now an undeniable star and one of the club's most vital players, and with that elevated standing comes a significant increase in his earnings.
If a player truly merits a top-tier salary, Chelsea will find a way to make it happen.
