Gianluigi Donnarumma and his then-pregnant partner endured a harrowing home invasion in 2023, during which the couple were restrained and threatened at knifepoint.
The Paris prosecutor's office launched an investigation into the incident at the time, when Donnarumma was still a PSG player, with charges including "armed robbery by an organized gang and aggravated violence."
As the case proceeds through court, documents reveal a witness statement in which Donnarumma, now playing for Manchester City, described being woken by an intruder who struck him with brass knuckles and held a knife to him.
The intruders also demanded the combination to a safe, which Donnarumma's partner, Alessia Elefante, insisted she was unaware of.
"They became furious, convinced I was lying," she said. "They grabbed me by the hair and one of them struck me on the thighs. I told them I was pregnant, but they didn't stop."
The stolen items included a number of luxury timepieces, cash, high-end handbags, and the keys to both a Mercedes and a Lamborghini.
Trial Into Home Invasion Continues
Authorities have identified 21-year-old Ilyas Kherbouch as the chief suspect, accused of orchestrating the break-in from prison, where he is currently serving a seven-year sentence for robbery. Kherbouch has denied all charges.
A second defendant, 22-year-old Khyan Mamouni, has also denied any involvement in coordinating the attack while incarcerated.
Moktar Diop, 24, is accused of taking part in the burglary and has admitted his role, which is not thought to include any of the violence described. A fourth suspect, who also confessed to his involvement and claimed to have been coerced by his co-conspirators, died by suicide in prison in 2024.
Two additional perpetrators, both under the age of 18 at the time of the crime, have already been sentenced to between three and four years in custody by a youth court in July.
