Cristiano Ronaldo Makes Surprise White House Appearance - Here's What's Behind It
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make an appearance at the White House this Tuesday afternoon, coinciding with U.S. President Donald Trump's meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient developed connections with the Saudi Crown Prince after departing Manchester United to sign with Al Nassr in 2023. Ronaldo has subsequently emerged as the prominent figure of the Saudi Pro League, recently securing his future in Riyadh through a two-year contract renewal.
Bin Salman, whom Ronaldo called his "boss" during his conversation with Piers Morgan, is making his first return to the United States in seven years to engage in discussions about the Abraham Accords and global diplomatic relations within the Oval Office, according to The Athletic.
The Saudi Crown Prince and President Trump are also anticipated to explore "reciprocal investment" opportunities between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
While Ronaldo's specific involvement in the day's proceedings remains uncertain, the 40-year-old's appearance in Washington D.C. serves as a preview of future events. The Real Madrid icon is scheduled to return to American territory in March to captain Portugal against the U.S. men's national squad in an international exhibition match.
Ronaldo will also feature prominently for the current UEFA Nations League titleholders at the upcoming World Cup, which will take place throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ronaldo: Trump Can 'Change the World'

Ronaldo has publicly expressed admiration for President Trump, particularly during his comprehensive interview with Morgan.
"[President Trump] is among those individuals who can contribute to transforming the world. One of the most significant figures is the U.S. President," the Al Nassr leader stated.
"He is someone I would like to encounter for a pleasant conversation. Whether here, or in the U.S., at his preference. I'm aware he visited Saudi Arabia with our leader MBS. I hope to meet him someday because he is among those who can make things happen and I appreciate such individuals."
Merely two weeks following Ronaldo's public endorsement of President Trump, he is anticipated to visit the White House.
