Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Seal His Future as Contract Decision Reaches Final Stage

Following several months of speculation, Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be nearing a fresh contract agreement with Al Nassr.

The Portuguese superstar, who joined the Saudi Pro League in 2022, was unable to secure a contract renewal with Al Nassr before the conclusion of the 2024–25 campaign. The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient has been the subject of numerous transfer rumors throughout the summer, though it seems he has now settled on his next move.

Fabrizio Romano indicates that Ronaldo is preparing to finalize a new contract with Al Nassr that would extend the Portugal skipper's stay in Saudi Arabia. The remaining aspect of the agreement centers on the duration Ronaldo wishes to commit; options for either a one or two-year deal are available for the 40-year-old striker.

There exists a "concrete possibility" for Ronaldo to remain with the club until June 30, 2027, should the veteran forward choose to continue with the Saudi team until reaching 42 years of age.

This development follows Ronaldo's rejection of opportunities to join clubs participating in this summer's FIFA Club World Cup. Both Wydad AC and River Plate had expressed interest in acquiring the former Real Madrid icon, but Ronaldo chose to forgo the expanded tournament.

"There have been numerous offers," Ronaldo stated. "I evaluate opportunities that make sense versus those that don't. You cannot participate in every competition."

Al Nassr did not secure qualification for the FIFA Club World Cup and consequently missed their share of the tournament's unprecedented prize money, but this setback will not prevent them from retaining Ronaldo. The club appears committed to keeping the Portuguese striker, who has netted 99 goals across 111 matches during his two and a half seasons thus far.

Following his role in Portugal's UEFA Nations League triumph, Ronaldo will be motivated to add additional honors to his extensive collection of trophies. If he finalizes the agreement this summer, he could then focus on capturing his first Saudi Pro League title.
