David Beckham Reveals 'Special' Clue About Lionel Messi's Future Career Move

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham suggested that he anticipates his superstar striker Lionel Messi will keep playing, as the drive for achievement continues to burn fiercely inside him.

Questions about Messi's future have persisted for years. The 38-year-old has previously stepped away from international football twice, only to come back and claim his first major trophies with Argentina. Messi's contract with Miami runs out in December, and he has not yet agreed to a renewal.

The diminutive attacker did little to silence rumors about his uncertain prospects after featuring in his last competitive international match on Argentine home turf this week. Following an emotional 3–0 triumph against Venezuela, Messi confessed: "I don't believe I'll participate in the upcoming World Cup. Considering my age, it's the most reasonable expectation that it won't occur. I'm enthusiastic and keen, but I'm approaching it one day at a time, one game at a time."

When questioned about his participation in the 2026 World Cup, Messi maintained that no choice had been finalized. He remained equally evasive regarding his club future. "We conclude the campaign at year's end, and hopefully we can become MLS champions," he stated. "Then the off-season arrives, and I'll have half a year remaining. I'll assess how I'm feeling."

Beckham, nevertheless, seems to think that Messi "continues to desire more."

"An extraordinary evening for an extraordinary individual..." Beckham posted on Instagram. "Everything has been accomplished but he continues to desire more, not for his own sake but for his nation... Last evening Argentina honored Leo in the manner he genuinely merits... felicitaciones leo."

Despite his advanced age, Messi hasn't displayed many indicators of decline. Across just 17 MLS appearances this season, Inter Miami's leader has accumulated 19 goals and eight assists. The eight-time Ballon d'Or recipient remains his team's top scorer and playmaker, directing nearly every offensive sequence his squad develops.

The more measured tempo of international football hasn't yet left Messi behind. Accompanied by a group of eager and dynamic young strikers for Argentina, the experienced captain serves as the squad's unquestioned leader. Following his guidance of the nation to a consecutive Copa América victory in 2024, Messi has been involved in eight goals (five netted, three assisted) across seven matches.
