Declan Rice and Lamine Yamal Clash in Epic 2025 Puskas Award Showdown
FIFA has announced the shortlists for the 2025 Puskás Award and Marta Award, featuring Arsenal's midfielder Declan Rice and Barcelona's winger Lamine Yamal's spectacular strikes from the previous season as standout contenders.
These two accolades honor the finest goals netted in both men's and women's football between Aug. 11, 2024 and Aug. 2, 2025. Each distinguished award received eleven candidates, with the honors named after Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskás and Brazil's active icon Marta.
Several of football's greatest talents have claimed the Puskás Award since Cristiano Ronaldo's inaugural victory in 2009. Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Mohamed Salah are among those who possess this accolade, alongside the latest recipient, Alejandro Garnacho.
This season sees Yamal and Rice leading the men's nominations, while Marta and Mariona Caldentey stand out among the women's candidates. The champions will be announced at the 2025 The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.
