Diogo Jota's Former Club Honors Fallen Liverpool Legend With Special Tribute Kit

Gondomar SC, the childhood club of Diogo Jota and André Silva in Portugal, is paying tribute to the deceased brothers through their 2025–26 jersey designs.

Jota and Silva lost their lives in a devastating vehicle accident close to Zamora, Spain on July 3rd. The global football family united in grief after the tragedy, with tributes pouring in at Anfield, throughout Gondomar, and worldwide.

Liverpool has permanently retired Jota's No. 20 jersey and will display "Forever 20" on their uniforms throughout the upcoming season.

Gondomar is creating their own memorial tribute to Jota and Silva. The Portuguese fourth-division team revealed their new home, away, and alternate jerseys, each displaying photographs of the brothers on the front.

The uniforms also feature Jota and Silva's names embroidered on the back below an infinity emblem.

"Beyond just a uniform, this represents an everlasting memorial," the club posted on social platforms. "This season, Gondomar Sport Clube enters the pitch carrying hearts filled with remembrance and sentiment.

"Our new uniform showcases a prominent photograph of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, two native sons of Gondomar who departed from us prematurely, yet will remain eternally within our club's heritage and our football legacy."

The siblings grew up in Gondomar and participated in the club's youth program during their formative years. In 2022, the Portuguese organization renamed its academy in Jota's honor.

"Each time our athletes don this uniform, it will feel as though they are entering the pitch alongside them. Because football transcends wins and scoring; it represents heritage, it represents family, it represents devotion to our homeland," Gondomar stated.

This meaningful gesture from Gondomar serves as a beautiful method to honor the memories of Jota and Silva in a community and sport that influenced their journey.
