Stamford Bridge gets its first look at Xabi Alonso's Chelsea side on Saturday, as the Blues wrap up their preseason schedule against Real Sociedad in their final summer friendly.
Alonso spent the opening five years of his professional career at La Real before making his move to Liverpool in 2004, and began his managerial career in San Sebastián with the club's reserve side. He never took charge of the first team there, however, and instead established himself as one of the most promising young coaches on the continent.
His Chelsea squad finished their extended summer tour on a high note, dismantling AC Milan 3–0 in Jakarta before Alonso's fringe players secured a late victory against Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim.

What's Next for Chelsea?
Alonso is preparing for his first experience of Premier League management, with Chelsea's 2026–27 season kicking off against cross-city rivals Fulham on Monday Night Football.
The Blues will therefore close out the opening gameweek of the campaign on Aug. 24, as Alonso goes head-to-head with fellow Spaniard and former Real Madrid teammate Álvaro Arbeloa. Fulham's newly appointed manager also followed Alonso at Madrid, but was released at the conclusion of the season.
