Manchester City face Atlético Madrid in Seoul this Sunday, as both clubs wrap up their summer pre-season tours ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
While City are making their third appearance in the Far East this summer, Atléti are making a single stop in South Korea for one friendly. The Spanish side have already taken on Manchester United in Sweden, and will head back to Europe for another pre-season fixture before La Liga kicks off.
Diego Simeone is fielding a largely youthful squad, with Atléti's emerging talents eager to make an impression against Enzo Maresca's Cityzens. City claimed their first victory under the Italian manager against the K-League All Stars, after previously sharing a 1–1 draw with Inter Milan.
Encounters between these two sides have been few and far between, with only two meetings to date. City narrowly defeated Atléti 1–0 on aggregate in a tense Champions League quarterfinal back in 2022.
