Two of football's most celebrated managers have made the transition to international management, and the duo will go head-to-head at the beginning of fresh chapters for Germany and the Netherlands.
Both countries suffered early World Cup eliminations via penalty shootouts and subsequently parted ways with their coaches. Thursday's UEFA Nations League encounter will therefore see Jürgen Klopp square off against Xavi Hernández on the sideline, as a storied rivalry is reignited.
Klopp's arrival was a significant triumph for Germany following the conclusion of Julian Nagelsmann's reign, with the ex-Liverpool boss stepping into management for the first time since his emotional departure from Anfield. Xavi has similarly been away from the game since his exit from Barcelona in 2024, and there's little question that his appointment would have drawn a warm smile from the late, legendary Johan Cruyff.
