A summer Derby della Madonnina is unusual but not without precedent. The two Milanese clubs clash at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia on Wednesday, as both sides continue their preseason preparations ahead of the 2026–27 Serie A season.
Milan and Inter have crossed paths on several occasions in the preseason TIM Trophy, and the two clubs also squared off in the International Champions Cup over a decade ago.
Never before, however, have they met as far afield as Australia, with the modern Optus Stadium a far cry from the storied and iconic San Siro, the historic home of both Milan clubs.
While Inter look to defend their Scudetto title this season, Milan are embarking on a fresh chapter under former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. The Rossoneri have featured just once this summer—a 2–2 stalemate with Celtic—while Inter have two matches under their belt. Most recently, Cristian Chivu's squad defeated Manchester City 3–1 on penalties after a 1–1 draw at full time.
Here's everything you need to know about watching this summer Milan derby.
