England Calls Up Man Utd Sensation as Harry Kane Injury Opens Door to International Breakthrough

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane's absence from England's Wednesday training session led to Manchester United's young talent Shea Lacey being invited to practice with Thomas Tuchel's senior squad.

Despite Kane stating he "should be fine" for England duties after hobbling off during Bayern Munich's 3–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, he remained indoors working in the gymnasium on Wednesday while Tuchel conducted field training with his players.

Sky Sports News indicates that an ankle injury has made Kane a "major doubt" for England's friendly match against Wales on Thursday.

Tuchel's main focus during this international break is the World Cup qualifying match against Latvia on October 14, which means Kane will likely be rested against Wales to ensure he's fit for the crucial competitive encounter.

Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins appears to be the probable replacement, while Barcelona loanee Marcus Rashford could also play in a central role.

Shea Lacey Among Three Youngsters Drafted Into Training

To bolster attacking options in training, Tuchel summoned 18-year-old Lacey from Under-20 practice to participate with the senior team.

Lacey, an attacking midfielder who has scored twice in three Under-23 appearances for United this season, is well-regarded at Old Trafford but has yet to make his first-team debut. He has practiced with Ruben Amorim's squad and reportedly impressed the Portuguese manager.

The young player has had to show patience early in his career due to multiple injury setbacks—Lacey recently finished what marked his first complete 90-minute match since October 2023.

Additional youth promotions occurred as Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah also sat out Wednesday's training session.

Chelsea's 19-year-old center back Harrison Murray-Campbell received a call-up, along with Manchester City right back Lakyle Samuel, a 19-year-old currently on loan at Bromley in League Two.
