Enzo Maresca Delivers Brutal Reality Check on Ruben Amorim's Manchester United Future
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has voiced his backing for Manchester United's Ruben Amorim, stating that struggling form is unavoidable when a coach adapts to a different league.
Amorim faces mounting pressure following his troubled beginning at Old Trafford, which has extended into the 2025–26 season with three losses in five matches and a Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby Town.
Amorim and United's upcoming challenge comes in the form of a Chelsea visit. Maresca will occupy the visiting technical area but might have found himself on the opposite side, as the Red Devils had evaluated him as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag.
"Manchester United represents a major institution with an excellent manager, and I'm certain they will achieve significant success under Ruben," he stated.

"What I can express is my genuine respect for Ruben. I've followed his matches since his Sporting days. He's an exceptional coach. Like every manager beginning a fresh venture, you might face more or fewer difficulties initially, but challenges are inevitable. I have complete confidence in his outstanding abilities."
"I serve as Chelsea's manager and feel fortunate to hold this position," Maresca added. "From the moment Chelsea first approached me, as I've mentioned repeatedly, I was instantly persuaded and certain.
"Primarily due to the club's stature and magnitude, and secondly because of the roster, which I believed was excellent last season and remains impressive this campaign."
Chelsea aims to recover from their midweek Champions League loss to Bayern Munich by joining the growing list of teams capitalizing on Amorim's struggles, though United historically elevates their performance in high-profile encounters.
