European Giants Make Bold Move for Darwin Nunez as Star Striker Tops Transfer Wishlist

Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have pinpointed Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez as their primary objective for the remaining summer transfer period, according to reports, as they gear up to compete with AC Milan for his services.

Núñez remains on the transfer market this summer following his struggle to secure a consistent spot in Arne Slot's first team last season, and after Napoli's interest diminished earlier in the window, the Uruguayan striker is drawing attention from new clubs once more.

Al Hilal made initial contact earlier this month, before reports surfaced that Milan are preparing a substantial bid for Núñez, though Liverpool's valuation may present challenges for the Italian club.

Al Hilal possess the financial resources to surpass Milan's offer and, per The Athletic, have "fast-tracked their efforts" to secure Núñez this summer.

The Saudi club, now under the guidance of former Inter boss Simone Inzaghi, has been pursuing a marquee attacking acquisition since Neymar's exit. Previous interest in Victor Osimhen, Alexander Isak and Benjamin Šeško yielded no results, leaving Núñez at the summit of their target list.

While no formal offer has been lodged yet, all involved parties are cognizant of the interest, and Núñez is reportedly willing to consider Al Hilal's proposition once it materializes.

Liverpool aim to utilize the proceeds from Núñez's potential departure to strengthen their attacking options, with Newcastle United's Isak being their primary target.

Isak has returned to Newcastle following his individual training stint at Real Sociedad. Liverpool are reportedly ready to enhance their initial £110 million ($146.1 million) proposal, though they may require the revenue from Núñez's transfer to approach Newcastle's £150 million ($199.2 million) valuation.
