European Powerhouses Eye Rasmus Hojlund as 'Prime Target' in Transfer Hunt

AC Milan's sporting director Igli Tare has acknowledged that the club is actively pursuing Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund.
The Italian Serie A outfit has been working on what would presumably be an initial loan arrangement for multiple weeks, with the primary challenge being persuading Højlund to reconsider his publicly stated commitment to competing for his position at Old Trafford.
Media reports suggested this position was beginning to weaken even prior to Højlund being entirely excluded from United's squad selection against Arsenal in their Premier League season opener on Sunday, despite new acquisition Benjamin Šeško being limited to bench duty due to fitness concerns.
When questioned about his team's pursuit of Højlund, Tare informed reporters: "He represents a solid possibility for our squad. We're currently assessing the situation, but the transfer window remains volatile and circumstances can shift rapidly.
"We understand the necessity to strengthen that area and ensure players capable of enhancing this team arrive. That's precisely what will happen."

Amorim delivered a stark message to Højlund following the 1–0 loss to Arsenal, cautioning the Danish striker that he faces genuine competition just to secure squad inclusion after Šeško's signing.
"At United, failing to meet expectations means a colleague will claim your spot," Amorim stated. "I've committed numerous errors, but I've demonstrated that merit determines playing time.
"[Højlund] must compete for his position. We'll observe developments in the transfer market. Rasmus possesses similar attributes to Ben, so occasionally we must make selections."
Milan reportedly plans to offer a loan arrangement with a purchase option valued at approximately €35 million (£30.2 million, $41 million), with United willing to accept a substantial loss on the £72 million they invested in the Atalanta player two seasons ago.
