Federico Chiesa Delivers Bombshell Verdict on His Liverpool Career

Federico Chiesa has reportedly communicated to Liverpool his intention to remain with the club this summer, despite ongoing speculation about a potential departure.

The Italian winger joined Liverpool last summer but had a disappointing first season, featuring in only 14 matches across all competitions for the Premier League titleholders. Physical setbacks hindered his development and he quickly dropped in the squad hierarchy at Anfield.

The 27-year-old seemed likely to depart the Reds this summer and has been frequently connected with a move back to Italy, but the forward, who netted a crucial goal in Liverpool's 4–2 triumph against Bournemouth last Friday, is now expected to remain on Merseyside.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa and his representative have conveyed to Liverpool their "definite intention to remain at the club". The former Juventus player had contemplated departing the Reds earlier in the transfer period but has now chosen to stay following Luis Díaz's recent transfer to Bayern Munich.

Díaz and Cody Gakpo were both positioned ahead of the Italy international in the left-wing pecking order, but the Colombian's transfer to Bayern should offer Chiesa increased playing time opportunities in 2025–26—though 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha is also anticipated to receive minutes following an impressive pre-season.

Liverpool find themselves lacking depth in attack following the exits of Díaz and Darwin Núñez, with Chiesa providing Slot valuable squad options. The Italian expressed he was "extremely pleased" following his match-winning performance at Anfield in the Premier League season opener.

The Reds continue pursuing Alexander Isak but seem progressively less likely to secure the Swedish striker, with additional attacking reinforcements appearing doubtful. They are also pursuing Marc Guéhi for central defense despite already investing over £300 million ($404.7 million) this summer.
