FIFA Crowns 2025's Ultimate Goalkeeping Champions: Men's and Women's Best Unveiled
Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has claimed The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper award for 2025, while Chelsea and England's Hannah Hampton secured the women's prize.
Donnarumma, who started 2025 at Paris Saint-Germain before making a summer move to the Etihad Stadium, experienced a trophy-laden campaign. PSG claimed another Ligue 1 championship, but the highlight arrived when Donnarumma played a crucial role in helping the French club achieve their maiden Champions League triumph.
The Italian goalkeeper beat competition from Liverpool's Alisson, Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez, Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer, Arsenal's David Raya, Inter's Yann Sommer and Barcelona's Wojciech Szczęsny.
"Receiving this prestigious recognition is a tremendous honor and I want to express gratitude to everyone who supported me with their votes," Donnarumma said. "I am incredibly proud to be acknowledged as the world's finest goalkeeper, especially considering the exceptional talent of my fellow nominees whom I deeply respect and admire.
"This was an extraordinary year that will remain etched in my memory forever, and it's heartwarming to receive recognition for my contribution to the achievements during that time.
"I will cherish this honor and now focus on creating more memorable moments with my new team Manchester City."
Hannah Hampton Claims Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper Prize
Securing the women's title was Chelsea's Hampton, who shared the 2024–25 WSL Golden Glove award and became England's standout performer during their victorious Euro 2025 campaign.
Hampton delivered a spectacular display during the final's penalty shootout, making two crucial saves to deny Spain and etch her name in football folklore.
"I'm deeply grateful to all those who cast their votes," she expressed. "This recognition is incredibly meaningful and touches me profoundly.
"My appreciation goes to Sarina [Wiegman, England manager] and Sonia [Bompastor, Chelsea boss] for having faith in me throughout this year. Together with club and country, we've accomplished remarkable things, and there's still plenty more to achieve.
"To our supporters, both at club and international level, your unwavering backing never goes unnoticed. We can feel your passionate cheering at every match, and it motivates us to secure victories for all of you. Thank you immensely."
Hampton prevailed over nominees including Gotham's Ann-Katrin Berger, Barcelona's Cata Coll, OL Lyon's Christiane Endler, Orlando Pride's Anna Moorhouse, Brighton's Chiamaka Nnadozie and Manchester United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
