Five Game-Changing Transfers Arsenal Need to Dominate After Title Glory

Arsenal's Premier League title festivities are in full swing and anticipation is mounting ahead of the upcoming Champions League final, yet the club's scouting department is already turning its attention to preparations for next season.

The Gunners will enter the transfer market to strengthen their championship-winning squad and are expected to have little difficulty attracting top-tier talent. Several positions could benefit from reinforcement despite this season's achievements, including the center forward role.

According to The Guardian, Arsenal have already pinpointed a new striker to bring in this summer, with Bournemouth's emerging talent Junior Kroupi drawing interest from the north London club.

Eli Junior Kroupi

The 19-year-old's outstanding debut campaign has not gone unnoticed, and he's already won over Arsenal fans by netting the goal in Bournemouth's 1–1 draw with Manchester City that handed Arsenal the title.

Kroupi could command a transfer fee of approximately £80 million ($107 million) according to the report, but Arsenal see him as a player capable of operating both centrally and on the left flank—the latter being another area in need of improvement this summer.

Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all reportedly keen on the Frenchman as well, meaning competition for his services will be fierce. Nevertheless, Kroupi would undoubtedly be a thrilling addition not just for next season, but for Arsenal's long-term ambitions.

The teenager won't be the only name on Arsenal's transfer wishlist, however. Here are four other targets the club could pursue as Mikel Arteta looks to establish a dynasty.

Julián Alvarez

Julián Alvarez

Kroupi is not the only striker on Arsenal's shortlist. Their pursuit of Julián Alvarez stretches back to last summer, and while Barcelona remain the favorites to land him should he depart Atlético Madrid, Arsenal are now serious contenders in what promises to be a heated transfer battle.

Alvarez would be an inspired addition to a forward line still lacking genuine star quality beyond Bukayo Saka, with the Argentine combining the clinical finishing of Viktor Gyökeres, the hold-up play of Kai Havertz and the positional awareness of Gabriel Jesus all in one package.

After a 29-goal debut season with Atléti, he has added a further 20 this campaign along with an impressive 10 assists. The former Manchester City star brings proven Premier League pedigree and is undeniably one of the finest strikers in the world. Securing his signature would be a remarkable achievement.

Bradley Barcola

Arsenal must also direct their focus toward the left wing, arguably the one area of their squad that has fallen short this season. Gabriel Martinelli has endured a tough campaign and could potentially be offloaded this summer, while Leandro Trossard is now 31 and has his contract expiring next summer.

While Paris Saint-Germain's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia—who could yet haunt Arsenal in the Champions League final—remains the club's top target, a transfer looks highly improbable. Shifting focus to his PSG teammate Bradley Barcola could therefore be a shrewd alternative.

The dynamic Frenchman is PSG's fourth-choice attacker and may be enticed by the prospect of a more central role elsewhere. Thirty-nine goal contributions last season were pivotal to PSG's achievements, and he has added another 21 this term.

The 23-year-old would represent a costly and ambitious acquisition, but a spectacular one all the same.

Anthony Gordon

Should Martinelli and Trossard both depart this summer, Arsenal would need to recruit two left wingers. Barcola could be one option and Anthony Gordon might be another—setting aside financial constraints for a moment, of course.

The Newcastle United winger has been heavily linked with Arsenal amid mounting speculation over his future and would certainly represent an upgrade on the left side. The Englishman's blistering pace, forceful dribbling and goal-scoring instinct make him one of the most electrifying wide players in the Premier League when at his best.

A turbulent season hasn't produced consistent brilliance from Gordon or his Newcastle teammates, yet the winger has still contributed 17 goals and five assists across all competitions—10 of those goals coming in the Champions League, where Gordon demonstrated his versatility by frequently leading the line.

Sandro Tonali

Sandro Tonali

Gordon's Newcastle teammate Sandro Tonali is another player who has been linked with the Gunners, with the Italian's agent reportedly offering his services to Arsenal late in the January transfer window following news of Mikel Merino's long-term injury. A deal failed to come together, but the two parties could be reunited in negotiations this summer.

Tonali, who is also a target for rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, would complement an already impressive Arsenal midfield featuring the likes of Declan Rice, Martín Zubimendi and Martin Ødegaard. To sustain a challenge across multiple competitions each season, Arteta requires genuine depth in the middle of the park.

Tonali would command a starting berth at Arsenal given his ability and exceptional quality, while also providing the Premier League champions with top-level cover should Rice or Zubimendi suffer an injury.

Arsenal certainly lack the financial resources to sign every player on their radar this summer, but they may be prepared to spend big to bring Tonali to the club.
