Flick Reveals Key Updates on Yamal and Araujo Ahead of Crucial Espanyol Clash

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has announced that Lamine Yamal will be available for selection against Espanyol this Saturday, while Ronald Araujo will have the ultimate decision regarding his participation in the local derby.

Yamal was absent from Thursday's training session, having initially arrived before departing early, and Barcelona's lack of public communication about their star winger caused concern among supporters, particularly given his ongoing groin issues throughout the campaign.

Per MARCA, Yamal's training absence was unrelated to any physical setback. Rather, he was feeling under the weather and was permitted to take the day off for rest and recuperation.

The teenage sensation returned to Friday's training session, with Flick confirming the young talent will be ready to take on Espanyol.

"Lamine is back," Flick stated succinctly regarding the winger's status.

When Flick addressed the press, Araujo's participation remained undetermined. The central defender has been participating in team training sessions but hasn't featured in a match since November, following which he was granted personal leave.

The Espanyol match was initially considered as a potential return date for Araujo, though subsequent reports indicated no official timeline had been established.

"The choice is his," Flick stated. "He's not at full fitness yet, but he's doing well.

"He must determine his own timeline for returning. From my perspective, it's straightforward. What I observe and sense is that the squad's backing is incredible. He's taken the necessary time. He's moving in the right direction."

MARCA reports that both Araujo and Barcelona's medical team have agreed to postpone his return, potentially until the Supercopa semifinal clash with Athletic Club. Nevertheless, this timeline will ultimately rest on the defender's personal readiness.
