Former Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Faces Multiple Rape Charges in Shocking Legal Development

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has officially brought charges against midfielder Thomas Partey, including five rape charges and one sexual assault charge.
In July 2022, it emerged that an international footballer from a Premier League club had been taken into custody, with the player's name kept confidential during the three-year probe into the accusations.
The investigation has concluded and a CPS announcement has verified that charges have been filed against Partey, who left Arsenal during the summer after his contract expired.
An official statement declared: "The Crown Prosecution Service has today given authorization to the Metropolitan Police to charge Thomas Partey with several rape counts.
"Partey, aged 32, faces five rape charges and one sexual assault charge. These accusations involve three different women who reported events that occurred between 2021 and 2022. Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5, 2025."

Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, stated: "The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorized the prosecution of Thomas Partey for several rape counts—following careful examination of a thorough evidence file.
"Our legal team has collaborated closely with Metropolitan Police officers who conducted the investigation, to assess the evidence and recommend suitable charges.
"We emphasize that criminal proceedings are now active, and the accused has the right to a fair trial.
"We understand there will be considerable public attention regarding this announcement, but it is crucial that there be no media coverage, commentary or online information sharing that could potentially compromise these legal proceedings."
Partey participated in 52 matches for Arsenal during the previous season, with 45 of those being starting appearances.
