Most athletes spend their entire careers chasing a single truly defining moment. Mohamed Salah simply cannot relate to such ordinary mortals.
Liverpool's Egyptian monarch has experienced countless such moments throughout his brilliant nine-year stint with the club, arriving as a costly Chelsea reject in 2017 and departing as one of the Reds' greatest-ever legends at the conclusion of the current season.
Tears will flow when Salah says goodbye to Liverpool fans, but what will endure forever are the extraordinary memories he has gifted them. Few players can claim to have had such a profound impact on the red half of Merseyside.

Salah had been labeled a 'one-season wonder' by opposing supporters following his remarkable debut campaign with the Reds, but the winger decisively silenced his critics in the seasons that followed.
One of the most unforgettable highlights of an outstanding first year at Liverpool, which saw Salah net a career-best 44 goals throughout the campaign, came in the Merseyside derby. A goalless affair at Anfield in December 2017 was illuminated by a breathtaking solo effort from the forward, who demonstrated his strength and accuracy as he slotted home an absolute gem.
While Salah's effort may not have been the most deserving winner, the strike against Everton earned him the FIFA Puskás Award. Regardless of the competition it faced for the prize, there is no question that the Egyptian's effort was still remarkable.

Salah's debut season ended without any trophies, but his outstanding performances did help Liverpool reach the ill-fated Loris Karius Champions League final. Right up until that catastrophic night against Real Madrid in Kyiv, Salah had been completely unstoppable.
There were numerous iconic moments on the road to the showpiece event, with his magnificent display against Roma in the semifinal first leg at Anfield worthy of a special mention, but Salah's delicate chipped equalizer at the Etihad Stadium in the previous round saw Liverpool eliminate runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Three goals up from the first encounter, the Reds fought back after conceding early in the second leg in Manchester to secure a superb victory. While not the most glamorous goal of his career, Salah's effort effectively sealed Liverpool's place in the semifinals.

Liverpool may have narrowly fallen short in their Premier League title pursuit in 2018–19, finishing as runners-up despite losing just one match and accumulating 97 points, but Salah still delivered a sensational campaign under Jürgen Klopp.
There were plenty of highlights, but Salah's greatest strike undoubtedly came against former club Chelsea in the final stretch of the season. Having just watched Sadio Mané put the Reds in front, Salah chose to outdo his fellow winger with a spectacular worldie.
Receiving the ball on the right flank, cutting inside and unleashing a ferocious shot into the top corner from 25 yards, it's a goal that will remain etched in the memory for years to come.
Champion of Europe

After the heartbreak of the previous season, Salah and his teammates achieved European redemption in 2018–19. The Reds claimed their sixth Champions League crown by defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2–0 in the final in Madrid.
The stunning semifinal second leg comeback against Barcelona, which Salah missed through injury, tends to dominate the narrative from that Champions League-winning run—and understandably so—but an early penalty from the winger in the final itself set Liverpool on the path to glory.
Salah displayed tremendous composure from the spot to fire Liverpool ahead against Spurs within the opening minutes, a lead they held until Divock Origi's second goal in the closing moments.
For the first and only time in his career, Salah was a European champion.

Salah has been celebrated for his solo efforts over the past decade, using his remarkable strength, blistering pace and magical left foot to leave opposition fullbacks in his wake. The greatest example of such brilliance came against Man City in October 2021.
Weaving left and right through a crowd of light blue shirts, Salah carved his way into the penalty area and drilled a pinpoint effort past Ederson from a tight angle using his weaker right foot.
The match finished level at Anfield, but Salah's strike was the undisputed highlight of the game.

A consistent tormentor of Liverpool's fiercest rivals Manchester United throughout his time on Merseyside, Salah enjoyed a particularly productive visit to Old Trafford just weeks after his wonder goal against Man City.
Salah became the first visiting player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick at Old Trafford, helping Liverpool to a stunning 5–0 victory—a feat that was remarkably surpassed when Salah netted twice in the following season's 7–0 demolition of the Red Devils at Anfield.
Three composed finishes guided Liverpool to one of their most celebrated victories of the modern era, comprehensively dismantling their rivals on their own turf.

Arne Slot's appointment as Klopp's successor brought uncertainty to Anfield, but Salah almost single-handedly ensured there was no transition period. In 2024–25, he posted extraordinary attacking statistics, enjoying the finest season of his career.
Salah contributed 34 goals and 23 assists across 52 appearances in all competitions, helping Liverpool clinch their second-ever Premier League title by the end of the campaign. Predictably, he was awarded the division's Player of the Season honour, while also becoming the first player in history to win both the Golden Boot and Playmaker award in the same season.
Individual seasons simply do not get much better than that.
