Grimsby Town Keeper's Priceless Celebration After Stunning Man Utd Upset Sends Internet Wild

In the most stunning upset of the early 2025–26 campaign, Grimsby Town knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup during the second round.
The League Two side—England's fourth tier—performed magnificently against Man Utd. Nevertheless, after letting slip a commanding two-goal advantage, they needed to endure until the 26th penalty kick to seal the remarkable victory. This marked the first occasion since 2014 that the Red Devils crashed out at the second round stage.
Keeper Christy Pym stopped what could have been a decisive penalty from Matheus Cunha during the early stages of the shootout and was undoubtedly among the standout performers of the evening. After the final whistle, however, he confessed to conflicted emotions in an amusing post-game conversation.
"Yeah it hasn't hit me yet [the victory]. I support Man United so I'm partially annoyed," Pym revealed. "Occasions like this are why you pursue football."
Despite allowing two late strikes that forced the match into penalties, Pym was outstanding against his beloved club. The Grimsby shot-stopper recorded seven stops during the contest, including several truly remarkable efforts. Still, he remains somewhat unsatisfied with his overall display.
"I could've performed slightly better [during the penalty shootout], couldn't I? I managed one crucial save that kept us alive and then the lads handled the rest. They were exceptional."
In their initial encounter with Man Utd since 1948, Grimsby Town triumphed on an evening that will be remembered in the club's folklore.
Grimsby advances to the Carabao Cup third round where they'll meet Championship club Sheffield Wednesday. The fixture is scheduled between September 15–22.
